The Commute

So as most of you know I have a 45 min drive into work and a 45 min drive home. It's mainly highway driving so I just throw on the tunes and off I go. The drive in the AM is rather enjoyable as I listen to this hilarious morning show which in all respects is rather inappropriate, but funny as hell. They have a blind movie reviewer, ridiculous contests (the male thong race around the city for 1.5 hours, beat your meat, go to mansions in the richest part of town get ingredients and ask to use the home owners kitchen to make a dish all at 8am and be back in the studio by 9:30am) and the hosts are ridiculously funny.

The less oh shall I say pleasant part of the commute begins when I veer off the highway and into the city where I work. Here are a few photos of the last 10 minutes of my drive......YUCK!!! This is the beauty i see every day....enjoy!!!

Hmmmmm the fresh air yummmm!!!!

Oh and the Trucks, gotta love the trucks!!! They are freaking everywhere throwing stones all over my windshield booooo trucks boooooo!!!

Can everyone see why I am dreading moving to such a place???? Bleh!!! The downtown area is not much nicer unless you enjoy crack and other such vices. Egad certainly not my bag, think i'll commute for a little while longer.

Liking one's surroundings is important. My mum refuses to drive around run-down areas. I think hers is an escapism issue cause she doesn't want to face the fact that there are people who live like that. But I can understand how it can be depressing. Indeed.

Lovely, lovely city. Taking the photos on a grey day too, that really beautifies the whole place.

Natalia, I agree that liking ones surroundings is key. You can't be miserable living somewhere. I may look to move outside of this particular city as an option.

Claire...nice eh? haha

WIGSF I honestly did not plan it that way, but do you think sunshine would really truly help the view, i think not.

The tortured commute Miss Ash takes. Slowly the industrial landscape and broken crack vials penetrate her soul. Each day she's reminded of the harrowing life people experience and she suddenly realizes what must be done. Miss Ash will become a super secret crime fighter and if Wiwille has anything to say about it, the outfit will be hot.

It looks like Toledo to me. My Sis lives there but I don't know if I could tolerate visiting her there for long. Ya, don't move - keep on truckin'... so to speak.

Where are you moving, Siberia? Or Pittsburgh?

I like the idea of a blind reviewer. "Yeah, the sound effects blew..."

Yeah the Hammer kind of sucks. At least you have Blundell and the Boys to keep you company.

That does look rather grim, and although I have roughly the same commute and despise it most days, I think you're making a wise move keeping it for now.

No no, the sun never shines in steeltown, it's the smog, it's always that grey. Too bad you can't also smell it.

Ashley...we have launched Soldiers' Angels Europe. Through this (even though they're not European) you can write cards or letters to Canadian troops.
http://soldiersangelseurope.org/?page_id=87

There are a list of addresses there...it's for letters ONLY. No packages...give them time, they'll get this sorted out. The addresses listed are so that you can write a letter to Any Soldier...there isn't a specific person. You write a letter...addressed as shown on the sight and they will get it to a canadian troop in need of support. Just thought I'd let you know. Let me know if you have any questions.

I found this article on commuting quite interesting:

Puts my 6 minute train ride into perspective!

MS, looks like it doesn't it.

Scott, this is true, they make me howl on most days.

2DP, do you have a nice view on your commute?

Jennifer, even with the sun sans clouds it's bleh. One place even painted their towers in bright fun colours...still ugly.

Lindsey, thanks i will check that out tonight :)
