So it happened....AGAIN!! I have the worst sense of direction on the face of the earth. Whenever I veer from my regular schedule and have to venture anywhere else I seem to get lost. Yes folks I had written directions and yet again ended up driving down the same road three times. "I swear the cutoff was back there." Good thing my companion at the time also has the worst sense of direction ever so she didn't seem to mind the detour. It took us an hour and half to get somewhere that should have taken 40 mins tops.
Did I mention I have a GPS....it would be nice if it actually worked. We typed in the address and then it gave us many different options other than the address we had typed in. WTF???
It was also Sunday morning .... early like 8am early and we had to be somewhere at a certain time. We eventually arrived after stopping to ask directions and then almost got lost a 2nd time. All this trouble just to sit out in the rain at an all day volley ball tournament. I had a lot of fun so I can't complain......I just don't understand why I suck so bad at navigating....with a map....and a GPS! It seems to be a reoccurring theme for me. Am I doomed for life or is there some way to change this problem....perhaps I should try to pay attention when I drive?? Would that help??
Anyway there was a great turnout, 17 teams over 100 people 3 games going on at a time on the beach. We played 7 games, won a few, lost a few, had some drinks and a good laugh. All for charity.....I can't wait for the next tournament. At least I will know where I am going!!!
In other news it's Canada's Birthday this week!! I always celebrate with the same group of friends down at the same wonderful bars. They are all outside down by the beach which makes for a great setting. We play a little ball, drink like fish and enjoy the warm weather. I'm a little bit leary as this year is calling for *gasp* rain!! Cross your fingers folks as we're starting at 11am (1st call) and plan to drink until 2am (last call). I'm always surprised when others say they don't have plans....what do you mean??? This holiday is right up there with my own birthday I freaking love it!!! Unfortunately last year I only lasted until 10pm due to an ungodly headache. Let's see if I can make it all the way this year!!

Can I get a high five? I was half an hour late to a party today for the very same reason!
Cxx
Ohhhh!! Yea those GPS things....sometimes they are awesome (when you need to find the closest Target) and other times....that women's voice is creepy.
So I'm playing my first Beach Volleyball game tonight - haha - should.be.interesting. I'll be thinking of you!
Claire High Five!!
Rawbean, Have fun you'll love it!! I love diving in the sand and getting all dirty it's so much fun!
I'm always one of those "I don't know what I'm doing" for Canada people. That's awesome that it's such a fun holiday for you.
Glad you had a fun weekend.
My arm is so raw right now.
At least you made it there & it was a good time. I am horrible at directions, but the GPS in my new car has been great about helping. Mapquest is OK too. Enjoy the celebration with your friends . . .
Christielli, I think it started when my friend lived far away, he'd come down every year for Canada Day. He's since moved back but we continue the tradition.
Rawbean awww! Did you have fun at least? I feel like i've been run over by a truck today, 7 games is too many.
2DP, perhaps I need to update my maps or something as my GPS used to work.
Happy Birthday Canada!!!
I think those GPS things can weird out from time to time. I've seen ours do that a time or two, so I don't trust the bastards. ha
I was at a Canada Day celebration years ago, but I was confused as to what date exactly they were celebrating. This was the days before the blessed internet was upon us and when I asked locals if they were celebrating their constitution or just declaration of independence from the crown I got all sorts of different answers. I had a blast though.
You know, those GPS things still require you to have certain basic observational and navigational skills in order to get you where you're going.
Jlee, thanks!! It's been pretty good as a whole however every now and again it bugs out.
Wiwille, you should hop on over tomorrow and celebrate..I believe it's our 142nd bday and then you can celebrate July 4 as well. Party party party!
Jennifer, I am rather challenged when it comes to directions as it is...this thing is supposed to help. Lately it's just been "searching for satellites"
If I ever got lost within 2 blocks of my place without my iphone or GPS, I swear I will never be able to get home.
