So much snow....

So i called in "exhausted" to work on Monday and stayed home. I should have taken the day off anyway as travelling can be tiring, but whatever i just used sick time rather than a vacation day and it was all good.

Unfortunatley the weather around here has been atrocious at best. We've had quite the snow storm over these past few days and around 40-50cm have fallen. I was an hour late on my first day back to work, only to be sent home 2 hours later because of the shoddy weather. I have yet to go back, so i've had this crazy long vacation. ROCK ON!!!

After almost 2 days of being housebound i braved the storm and went shopping for ski pants and green tea lattes. You see as per my New Years Resolution (to "be a doer") i've decided to go skiing this weekend (if my back cooperates with me) and thought it best to be prepared. They were on sale too $100 off so that was sweet. The storm seems to be slowly fading away, which means back to the grind for me tomorrow. As you can see from the photo below it did leave quite the mess and it's cold as hell minus 30 with the windchill...yikes!!

If you've got that much snow you definitely should go skiing - just stay on your feet & off your back and you'll be just fine.

wow, can't remember how long it's been since I've seen anything like that! Don't you just love snow days??

That looks nasty out there. I envy you that you get so many days of vacation, sick days, snow days, that-time-of-the-month days…. Please make sure you don’t use centimeters in the future. What is this the British Empire? We use ‘inches’ here in the western world.

Btw, its very interesting to look at the cluster map for your blog and mine. I have a bigger audience in Asia, far east, even in India. You seem more concentrated in Europe, and you got some hits from Africa.

Its interesting that we have varied audience.

Yikes, I don't miss driving in that at all! Now I whine if it gets below 70 (like today - brrr...) It's funny how I grew up in that environment but now I would be totally lost living like that. I guess we all just acclimate to our surroundings.

The other day at work my coworkers asked me to tell them about snow. None of them have ever lived anywhere other than Florida and most them had never even seen the stuff. It was crazy to sit there and talk about something so normal and common and for them all to stare at me wide-eyed with amazement. They didn't know about snow plows or salting the roads and were freaked to learn that your pants would get wet from walking through the stuff (the horror!) - All of them went to college classes everyday wearing tanks tops, shorts and sandals. They asked me how I ever picked up cute boys while wearing a puffy jacket and mittens. Funny stuff.

When it snows here (and you can still see the grass) people call in to work saying they are stuck at home. It's hilarious. I totally don't miss those snow storms though. I know I'm annoying but it was like 9C here today....sunny and beautiful....awhhhh

PS thanks for being a good sport about the tea party!

2DP...hopefully i will not end up on my back...while skiing that is ;)

Jlee, I only love snow days for staying in my jammies and drinking tea. Hate the cold.

Yrautca, ughh you and Jennifer drive me nuts about cm's vs inches, degrees vs celcius. I like to switch it up every now and again. As for the maps, Europe and I are in love with one another :)

SS, that's so bizzare. I remember being on vacation with people who had just seen snow for the 1st time. It was like they were 10 again, throwing snowballs, running around, not sure what to do with the funny stuff. Hilarious.

Rawbean, that was like in England. They had a few cms at best and my friend got sent home early "due to the weather" soooo funny. Oh it sounds sooo warm out there, i'm jealous. No worries about the TP, everyone laughs at me for liking them haha. I can take it :)

In Bangladesh when anyone brings up snow, everyone imagines ice cubes falling from the sky and hitting you on the head. It's pretty funny trying to describe it, there isn't even a vocabulary for it in their language.

I made it to work, it didn't dump on us as bad.

I love your resolution, to be a doer. This is mine to, to be a driver not a passenger in life.
