Hats Hats and more Hats

My latest purchase was this horribly expensive purse but, in my defence, I used a gift card and then a few of my own bucks to purchase it. I didn't feel too bad as I consulted my mother beforehand as to how much was too much to spend on a purse. She in return asked if it was less than $250.....yay mom!!!!

I also just purchased a new hat, however this baby was on sale for $5.99 woo hoo gotta love a great deal. You can check out the collection of hats at the end of this post if you are so inclined.

I've been trying to work on me lately as one of my goals. For some reason, aging has freaked me right the hell out this year. I'm concerned about my past tanning and horrible burns I've inflicted upon my body, not to mention the smoking, popping pills with no thoughts (nothing bad silly people, but ask my friends I'm the sudafed queen, tylenol 1's I doubt it's good to take codeine all the time even in low doses) and other such things.

So to rectify my behaviour I've been looking for a fake tanner (any suggestions, they no longer make the one i love) I've quit smoking and I'm back onto regular tylenol and very little sinus medication. I also went to the gym tonight for the 1st time in 4 months. I gave my knee a try on the treadmill and so far so good. As well I did some upper body exercises with weights, nothing like where I used to be, but I will build back up to that in no time.

I'm also focusing a lot right now on money and savings and all that kind of stuff. I find it fascinating that some people do not have any type of savings plan....no RRSP's, no pension, no anything. I struggled with putting money away at first as it's not guaranteed that I'm going to live to see tomorrow. But......in the off chance I might live to be 90 I thought it best to at least contribute to my agency's pension plan. I'll work on the RRSP end of it later :)

What goals are you working towards? Am I the only one approaching my 30's with this bizzaro obsession with my body and taking care of it all of a sudden?

Yes the plastic tag thingy is still on the blue hat....I haven't worn it yet haha

I got this one in Camden, I love the huge pin on the side, so cute!!

I'm working towards some decent facial hair.

Like the hats by the way; lose the purse though. Its got a bit of that slutty teenager feel. Paris-esque with a bit of gina thrown in for good measure.

But what do I know, I'm just a simple man.

I need to concentrate on not being such a dumb fat bastard. I lost 50 lbs a couple of years ago and I'm working hard just to keep it off.

A lot of my paycheck goes to savings, but to do that I have to live poorer than I really am.

Oh and marry Scarlett Johanson.

I love the army green one! You know, I used to tan like a fiend in my 20's, and when I hit 30, I freaked out and stopped indoor tanning and started using sunscreen a lot more (a must in TX) I think it's natural to start wanting to take better care of yourself. Good for you! Just wait until you hit 40....ug.

I started becoming obsessed with my health about 5 years ago when I had a string of health scares and realized that I might be using my body for the next 70 or 80 years and that I was treating it pretty badly.
As for savings, not having any job security is making the idea of saving money for retirement seem pretty silly, since I'll probably have to cash it all in after each contract ends. I'm so looking forward to a permanent job so I can start saving for retirement/downpayment on a house.
Maybe we should get the BL going again if you're going to go on another kick?

I am the same way about the savings thing. I have absolutely nothing saved, it's actually quite pathetic. As for the health thing, I go through spurts where it's important, than I go back to not caring so much. Very bad, I know.

This is such a cute post and I must say I am very jealous of how cute you look in hats! I wish I did.

Anyways, I am with you! As I approach 30 I too want to take better care of myself. I've cut out bad snacking and am eating breakfast at home instead of on the go. I've also been walking home from work every day which is about a 5K walk. I'm heading to the gym tonight! YAY US!

I haven't sent you your prize yet - I'm a horrible blogger buddy.

Now those are some serious hats & you wear them much better than I could as they don't suit me at all.

Congrats on the general health kick, but everything in moderation - even being healthy as what's life without a few vices (and I suppose expensive purses qualify somehow).

I know what you mean. I used to care a lot about my body and keeping everything in shape and healthy. Then I went through a period where I just didn't care. But, now I am back on the looking good, feeling good kick. It's soooo much better this way.

The hats looks just adorable. I don't know that I could bring myself to buy such an expensive purse. But good for you for treating yourself. That's a well-deserved gift.

As far as aging. It's natural. And it's best than the alternative. However age has been pathologized by the media, the medical cummunity, cosmetic manufacturers...you name it. And it's mostly directed at women since men are hot with grey hair and the lines on their face give them "character."

That said, the body is resilient. If you still smoke...quit. If you over-drink, slow it down. Definitely no more tanning beds and no tanning at the beach. Buy a big old hat for the beach and go with a high SPF. Beauty is not worth the risk of cancer.

You might want to try spray-on tans at a salon. Same result...no cancer.

You are young. Enjoy it. But be good to yourself.
