My family and I went out for a nice brunch on Easter Sunday and also went to the same establishment this past Mother's Day. The food was really good however there was something a bit off for me on both occasions.....a very bossy server.
My sister and I stood in a rather long line waiting for omelette's to be made which was expected on such a busy day. What was not expected however, was the verbal abuse lashed out by this holier than thou asshole in a suit. There he stood beside this very young worker as they both made omelette's. The entire time the suit berated the worker, told him to hurry up, less oil, more oil, you're not doing it right, put this here, do it this way........for 5 minutes straight; it was appalling.
By the time I made it to the young worker I was disgusted. I told him he was doing a great job and then asked in a loud voice what this man's name was. Of course the man looked over, the kid looked at him and said "that guy" and gave me his name. I then said that I thought the man was treating him in a very disrespectful manner and it was disgusting. For the remainder of my time up there the suit kept his trap shut.
When we were leaving I asked our waitress for the mans last name as I was going to put a complaint in and I wanted to know who he was as I figured he was some type of manager. She gave me his full name and then said that he was actually the owner. She told me that other people had also complained about the way he was treating the staff that day as it was apparent to anyone within earshot.
I'm still going to write the letter to him as well as head office as it's a chain restaurant. I'm going to include some tips on employee/employer relations as I'm sure the suit will be thrilled with such a thing!
I can understand if the employee was doing a terrible job or not doing what he was supposed to be doing and even in that situation I would assume one would take the person aside to speak to them in private, not in front of 100 people. But he wasn't doing anything wrong and yet the suit stood there with his big booming voice berating the worker the entire time. I noticed the same man doing the exact same thing to another worker the 1st time I ate at this restaurant. Clearly he enjoys his position of power and is perhaps trying to make up for his very small penis. I will never know as I am not setting foot in that establishment again.

There really is nothing like the power of a nice written letter. Especially if it's hand written.
Sounds like an asshat with a power trip. Probably has a small weiner.
Way to go! I'm seriously impressed by your actions. And yes do write the letter. It will make a difference!
WIGSF I was going to type it, but perhaps I will write the letter.
FC, haha my thoughts exactly!!
Rawbean, Thanks! I will write the letter. Even if nothing changes, at least I tried and brought it to his attention.
I hate to see this kind of crap! It happened to me at Starbucks the other day. A new guy was making my coffee and the manager was barking at him the whole time and I said "thank you..hang in there" giving him a sympathetic look when I left. He did kinda suck, but it's hard learning something new!
I hate when that happens! why do people think they can treat others that way? hand write the letter of impact.
Way to fire off the strongly worded letter. Miss Ash, the UN of customer service.
I hate that guy. Fo' shizzle! Good on your letter writing plan, dearie.
Cxx
I sincerely hope your letter does make a difference. I know what you mean about people who feel the need to exert power over those they want to believe are "below" them.
Jlee, it is hard to learn something new and maybe next time you go he will be better trained :)
Suzie, yes a handwritten letter is the way to go I agree.
Wiwille, you're a nerd! Ha!
Claire, me too! He was a jackass
SS, yeah it happens far too often in this world and it disgusts me.
the good part about what you did is it so rare...saw a study one time that said the average person who gets good service tells something like 2 people, the average person who gets bad service tells 15. been years since I heard it so don't quote me on the numbers...but it is indicative of how critical we are.
