1) Bloody Mary and I'm not talking about the drink. I remember being in grade 3 or so and being told all about Bloody Mary, the scary woman that lived in the mirror. I was told to turn all of the lights out, put my finger to the mirror and say her name 13 times and poof she would appear with blood running down her face. I attempted this a few times and chickened out before I hit 13. I was so terrified that Mary would appear in my bedroom mirror on her own that I removed it from my bedroom and for years and years refused to have a mirror in my room.
2) I was quite young when I watched Psycho for the 1st time as it was playing on the television. I shut the movie off, demanded my parents come back inside (they were outside doing yard work though it was getting dark) and I couldn't sleep for days I was terrified.
4) Unsolved Mysteries always intrigued/scared the crap out of me. Robert Stacks voice was soooo eerie; I remember watching an episode in my dark basement when all of a sudden the TV started to turn green and flip like crazy. It was most likely the picture tube but tell that to a creeped out little girl. I was certain the woman who had been thrown off a cliff was somehow inside my television taunting me.
5) I was always a little weary of strangers. I remember walking home one day and a car slowing down......I walked up the closest lawn I saw nonchalantly pretending I lived there when the car pulled right into the driveway and my heart went crazy. Turns out the person driving lived in the house and was slowing down to let me pass over their driveway before they pulled in.

Its crazy how freaked out we got as kids. The unsolved mysteries thing is hilarious.
I was always never quite sure what Bloody Mary was a reference to. I'm still not sure today. I guess I could google it, but I don't care enough to do so. Was Bloody Mary a reference to the Queen that executed lots of Prostestants, or is it some unholy summoning of the mother of Christ? I never tried it to find out.
I did try the Candyman thing. Same trick, but you say Candyman instead. Didn't work. But that was a pretty cool and scary movie. Even today, it still kinda scares me. I guess that's the mark of good horror flick.
My roomate in college didn't want me to watch unsolved mysteries because it gave him nightmares. He was the catcher on the team and was 6'4", 240 pounds! What a wuss.
Rawbean, yeah we were all big geeks!
WIGSF, I haven't a clue I was too young to want to know who Mary was and I actually forgot about the whole thing until this meme.
BB, see it was that voice and the creepy music they used...scary!!
The Bloody Mary thing only works if you spin around once counter-clockwise after each time you say her name. My sister's bestfriend's neighbor once knew a guy whose cousin went to school with a kid who did it and totally died! :P
oh man, "Psycho" scared the crap outta me too! I always like "Unsolved Mysteries". I don't think it scared me though...
I have to admit that I rarely dangle my arm either as the imagination of things under the bed can run rampant, especially around 2 a.m.
I often wake up with a limb off the bed.
I too tried the bloody mary thing, but it never worked. I tried the same thing with the 'Bedknobs and Broomsticks'. You know where they take the bedpost and tap it and it takes them to the Isle of Nambooboo.
Okay I'm a dork.
Pip, haha well done!!
JLee, I've seen reruns as an adult and it still freaks me out a bit.
2DP, good to hear I'm not the only one.
Wiwille, I second that :)
