I went to go and see Tropic Thunder this evening only to find that I clearly have issues reading the "Movie" section of the newspaper. A friend was meeting me there and as we approached the cashier we learned that TT was not showing until Wednesday. You see I saw Wednesday to Friday in the paper, however I thought it meant this past Wednesday.....DOH!!

There's a huge lineup behind us and I feel pressured to just pick a movie, any movie only I have no idea what's playing. He decides we should see either The Mummy or Batman. Hmmm I haven't seen the first 2 mummy movies for a reason....so I chose The Dark Knight. It wasn't something that I had wanted to see but figured meh I could stand to watch Christian Bale for a few hours.

I ended up really really enjoying the film and I must say Heath did a fantastic job as the Joker. I thought everyone was just saying he was wonderful because he had passed away blah blah but he truly was phenomenal in that role.

Any other suggestions for worthwhile films to see in the theatre as of late?? Can't promise I will make it on the right date haha but it's worth a go.

I can't wait to see "Tropic Thunder". I saw a spoof of True Hollywood Story of the movie and it was hysterical. Anyway, I just saw "Pineapple Express" this weekend and I thought it was pretty funny, although I liked it more as it went on than in the beginning.

I saw The Dark Knight yesterday night and really enjoyed it. Other movies I've really enjoyed this summer are Mamma Mia and WallE.

JLee, I saw the trailers for Pineapple Express and didn't laugh once.....maybe I'll give it a try though.

Rawbean, it's not my type of movie at all and I really enjoyed it!

Claire, I heard WallE was good...thanks for the suggestion.

The Bloor Theatre in Toronto is showing "For A Few Dollars More" which is a classic film. I think they're showing it in it's original Italian.

Glad you're feeling better.

I too liked Dark Knight, but I haven't seen much else. I liked Wall-E.

I went to see Ma Ma Mia. I absolutely loved it. Meryle Streep did a great job. Plus, seeing the guys at that end of the movie in completly absurd outfits was worth it.

I didn't expect to like The Dark Knight as much as I did. I didn't think anyone could follow Nicholson as the Joke, but Heath Ledger was really good.

And I second WIGSF's recommendation of "For a Few Dollars More". Damn, I wish I was in TO.

WIGSF, hmm I'll have to look that up and see if it's something I'd want to see, thanks for the suggestion.

Wiwille, a lot of people seemed to like Wall-E I'll have to check it out.

DM, I'd probably belt out into song with the characters if I went to see that LOL.

Pip, I didn't think I would like it either but was pleasantly surprised.

Yrautca, Oh yes I do believe I saw previews for that one.

DM, haha did you do that??

Ummmm Ash,

Don't you hate it when people use the word retarded?

Why would you consider going to see a movie that has been boycotted by disability groups because of the portrayal of the mentally challenged.

This movie was not released at the time I wanted to see it, all that uproar began yesterday.
