I’m not a huge caffeine drinker, you know those people that “need” their morning coffee, I am not one of them. Every now and again I enjoy a nice tea in the morning or something a little fancier like a caramel macchiato but it’s not because I need one, it’s because I want one.
I’m astounded that some people go two, three times a day to coffee shops to get their fix. I used to work for a man and woman who would make upwards of 4 pots a day and drink every last drop. I suppose it’s an addiction but man that’s a lot of coffee.
I currently have 4 unused Tim Horton’s cups on my desk at work which have been accumulating for a good 5 months. You see every time someone from my office walks over to TH, the staff there puts an extra cup under the hot cup to prevent burning. This makes sense except…..they put the cups in a tray so there is absolutely no need for the 2nd cup. This irks me….so I have been saving the extra cups. When I return one day for a tea I will have them use the extra cups and will most likely lecture them for being wasteful. Granted I’m not being the most environmentally friendly….I am using a throw away cup after all. Clearly it’s time for me to dust off the travel mug if I’m going to get on my high horse and boss people around ☺
Though I’m not sure how much that will help……
I do know someone that took her travel mug to a coffee shop and guess what the staff did…..they filled up a large coffee cup to get the correct amount, poured the coffee into her travel mug and then threw the large cup out BAH!!!
Does anyone have any similar pet peeves??

Pouring into the paper cup then from that cup into the travel mug, sure, it's wasteful. But it's also kinda funny.
I don't know if this is in the same line of pet peeve-ishness, but it really bugs me when people don't rinse out a beer bottle/can after pouring the beer out. If it's a bar, who cares, but at somebody's home, that bottle has to be rinsed. You know flies like beer too. If those bottles aren't rinsed, just put back into the box, when you bring that box back to the beer store, the thing is full of flies. Then the flies get in the trunk of your car as you go to the beer store, then when you're driving around a fly lands on your hand, you shake your hand to get it off. Next thing you know, you've swirved into oncoming traffic and caused a ten car pileup on the freeway.
So yeah! Unrinsed beer bottles are a pet peeve of mine.
Good thing Starbucks uses recycled cardboard! hehe
My pet peeve is styrofoam. I don't know why we really need it. I envision the planet in 200 years, the landscape dotted with white styrofoam flowers which will be around long after we're gone!
I love coffee, but not nearly as much as some of the people you work with I guess. I figure there are far worse addictions out there.
My pet peeve is those crazy drinks at Starbucks with whipped cream, sugar, etc. as they shouldn't even be allowed to be called coffee. ha.
We have compost cups here at work, which probably use more energy than simply throwing them out. Sigh.
Which brings me to my pet peeve. People have no idea what is appropriate to recycle in the terms of energy effeciency and it's cost to the enviornment. It's a shock to most that a lot of items are actually better off in the trash than in the recycling bin. I mean if people are so worked up about the enviornment why aren't they educating themselves a little bit better?
I drink coffee Mon through Fri only in the morning, but if I don't have it, I'm not going to go berzerk. I'm more of the coffe mug collector. But I'm really picky. I only like the starbucks mugs and the mugs from a local bakery. I don't really trust many others. Alot of coffee mugs are made cheeply and they give off a metallicc taste.
My boss has a portable heater in her office and turns it on constantly in the summer when the A/C is too high, she prefers to waste a huge amount of electricty than put on a sweater.
WIGSF, yeah that's nasty when people don't rinse them out bleh!
JLee, and there are still places that use it all the time. We should really bring our own tupperware for taking home leftovers.
2DP...like the caramel macchiato ha!
Wiwille ugh oh! I may be a culprit and not even know it...perhaps you could write a blog to educate us??
DM, my fav mugs are those tallish ones with cute paintings on them :)
BB What?? Have you ever suggested she get a sweater and unplug her heater...that's terrible!
So many opinions. I don't even know what to do anymore. I just wrote a blog about my trip to the garbage dump and I wasn't able to use my reusable mug this morning so I have a paper starbucks cup at my desk. SUCH a hypocrite I am.
