Rawbean was in town for a work related trade show/conference and we thought it would be fun to get together for dinner with a few other bloggers that neither of us had met.

I picked Rawbean up from her hotel and surprisingly we were making pretty good time until we hit the streets on foot. We emerged from the parking garage to absolute chaos. Apparently the subway had been shut down and there were mobs of people everywhere we looked, helicopters in the sky and of course cops in fancy pants directing traffic.
-----
We walked towards where I thought the restaurant was and then....we kept walking....and kept walking. I called Big Ben on his cell and voila, we were only about 15 minutes late. Leave it to me to pick the restaurant and then not be able to find it. There was a reason I got a GPS as a birthday gift this year!!

Big Ben and WIGSF were sitting at a table near the door (thanks guys) and Scott showed up a wee bit later. The five of us ate dinner, had some drinks and of course took a photo or two.

The idea of meeting up with a bunch of strangers seemed a bit daunting at first however, I had previously met both Scott and Rawbean so I felt much less anxious than I probably would have had I gone into this completely blind. Also, the bizarre thing about blogging is that you feel like you actually know these people.....so are they really strangers?

I had a great time as I always enjoy meeting new people and having a good laugh. I think that my blog is a pretty good representation of who I am in real life and I can say the same for the folks that I met.

I actually thought you were a bit quieter than I would have expected. And your voice is nothing like I'd imagined. It was much like you described, but I didn't believe you until I heard it for myself.

Good times had by all. You and Rawbean were totally like I expected. I wasn't totally like my blog, I didn't stare at your boobs.

WIGSF,I told you it was more valley girl than angry feminist. I usually can't stop talking....but I held myself back ha!

BB, true true but you were hilarious (and tall) which I totally expected!

Oh and Scott...what exactly are you doing with your fingers in the photo...are you trying to tell us all something "it's this big"

Yeah, what's with Scott's hand in that shot. It's like he's getting ready to pinch something.

I think it would be cool to meet some bloggers. Technically, they're strangers, but really they aren't. You're lucky. The nearest bloggers I know are hundreds of miles away.

If you like meeting strangers, you should try out Couchsurfing.com to meet international.

You don't necesarily have to have people stay with you. Mostly I use it to meet up with travellers for dinner, drinks, crazy antics. It's a really awesome opportunity to meet people you would have never had the chance to know otherwise.

Awesome! I can't believe this time last year it was almost my turn to come visit you Canadian lovelies. Roll on the next visit, say I!
Cute pic - bloggers are such hotties!

I was hoping you'd post on this meeting after I saw it elsewhere. I think it's fun to match up blogs with real people, and glad to hear it matched up well.

I think one of the cool things about meetings like these is that you do sort of know what's going on with these people if you read their blogs (unless they are completely lying in Cyberspace. Ha).
