This is what I woke up to a few evenings ago and let me tell you I was less than pleased. Snow already……seriously!!! Thankfully I’m a smart cookie and prepared last week for the impending doom that is winter:
Snow Tires
Rustproofing
RustproofingI had no choice but to brave the roads last night as I had an important appointment that was scheduled a month ago. Fortunately I made it in one piece; unfortunately a drive that would normally take 45 minutes took over 2 hours due to the shoddy road conditions mixed in with a bit of rush hour traffic.
I listened intently to the radio for any news about accidents and such and saw a few minor fender benders but nothing too major. I did come across two cars in front of me twirling around thanks to the black ice that had collected on the road. One spun around two lanes and ended up facing on coming traffic; the driver managed to get back on track and pulled over. Pretty scary stuff considering it’s a major highway with 5 lanes of traffic. Thankfully they managed to come out unscathed though I held my breath as I passed that particular dip in the road. It’s not too promising when you see cars spinning like tops in front of you and others stopped on the shoulder of the road as they too had hit the ice moments earlier.
I really really hate winter!!

That is why I don't live in Winnipeg anymore. I know exactly what you're talking about and I don't miss it ONE BIT.
Ouch! It got cold here today, well for us. lol
It is going to be close to freezing and I'm NOT looking forward to the icy roads in the future. Stay safe!
You know sometimes I like conditions like that. It's feeling a bit of taste death/live life euphoria.
Then again I'd hate to have that every day.
Yesterday on my way into work in the snow, the roads weren't good but there was nobody on the roads. I still made it to work in the same amount of time but driving much slower.
Rawbean, yeah I hate it and I'd imagine that Winnipeg was even worse.
JLee, so what it was 70 today instead of 90 ;)
Wiwille, everyday from november until february will be like that for me....it's scary :(
WIGSF, yeah in the morning it was fine but on Wed evening it was brutal.
Yeah, I'm about to head to a place where it will be COLD. I have no idea what to wear or what to do.
I went out to my car this morning and it was buried. Not only do I not have snow tires, but my all-seasons are going bald. I really should do something about that soon. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of winter, either.
I am the rare breed that loves the snow. I saw fender benders aplenty, but still, pretty nice outside.
Got 4 wheel drive now baby! I'm ready for it.
You were surprised by snow in Canada? In November? Hello! You're in Canada! Isn't there snow there in July? J/K I live not too far away in western NY, so I know what you mean. I hate it this early too.
IG, do you HAVE to go!! I would stay home...
Pip, yeah you might want to get on that tire thing....bald tires = yikes!
Scott, I'll give ya the pretty factor....it is quite beautiful....then I think of all the havoc/accidents/falling on ice etc that it causes.
BB, oh right you have a gas guzzler.
Phil, fair enough I know I know. I should be thankful it didn't snow in October like it usually does.
