We visited a lot of art galleries while we were on vacation and I wanted to share some of my new favorite artists with you. I'm a Van Gogh girl, I just adore him however I do believe that Fabian Perez is also in the running as his pictures are extremely sexy and sultry; lots of dancing tango style, cigarettes, drinking, passion......he's amazing.

Vladimir Rush also caught my eye but in a completely different way. He reminds me a lot of Dali:

I thought this photo "All Lit Up" by Todd White was super cute ( I got it from http://www.iankenny.com/) :

Peter Lik is also amazing as is his presentation. He takes beautiful photographs and then mounts them onto back lit frames......I couldn't find any on the net that would do him justice as you really have to see them in person to get the full affect. Below is a small photo of one of his galleries.

Last but not least Eugeny Lushpin. Again I could not find any of the paintings I really enjoyed by him on the net but this one will give you a taste of his style. I haven't a clue how he makes the light look so real it's amazing. ( from http://www.sensorium.no/)

I'm curious, who are your favorite artists???

I LOVE that painting of a girl sitting and smoking. Thats the kind of piece I would shell out huge money for to acquire.

I dont think I have favorite artists. But I do enjoy art very much. Many of my travels take me to these artistic towns that I spend time exploring (see my taos trip post). WHile I was in Taos I came across the sculptures of David Hostetler. I became an immediate fan. Love the female figure.

I used to really like René Magritte after I saw an exhibit of his at the Met in NYC (makes me sound cool, but I had never heard of him before then truth be told).

Who else? Oh Cody Hoyt....just recently discovered. I have his art as my background image on my laptop.

I have a hard time "getting in to" paintings and sculptures. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's the "you can't talk it with you" aspect of the art. Sure, you get can lithos and copies and stuff, but it's not the same. Or maybe because I've yet to find a painting that really speaks to me. I'm a pretty simple guy at times. Basically, looking at these pictures in this post and my responses aren't proof of deep thought. First picture, chick with the rack; second; second picture, who are the pervs watching these two get freaky on the dance floor; third, girl getting dumped over the phone; fourth, nice legs but she's a smoker. Next one, giant rhino tricked out with rhino bling.
The stuff, visual art in general, just doesn't really speak to me.

^ "take it with you" not "talk it with you.

What amazing pictures! I'm learning about art - ask me in a couple of years and I might have some favourites!

Yrautca, I agree that photo is stunning!! I'll have to check out your photos of Taos as you do take really good pictures.

Rawbean, I'm going to take a look at that Cody Hoytwebsite after I am finished here thanks!

WIGSF, but even you can see the emotion in the paintings...girl on the phone appears rather melancholy..you get it, you might not like it but you get it.

Claire, I am not an art connoisseur by any means in fact you could probably teach me a thing or two already.

I'm behind over here & was wondering how Vegas went & hoping there were shots of it, so thanks. I, too, love Van Gogh and have been to the Van Gogh musuem in Amsterdam twice. Just great.

And I went to the Peter Lik in the Venetian this past September & loved his stuff. Never seen it before. I priced some out, however, and it wasn't cheap. Not by a long shot, but one day . . .

Finally, thanks for that first artist's shots as the second from the top was my favorite one I think. Glad you had fun in Sin City.

I love the one of the girl with the cigarette. They're all gorgeous though. I am embarrassed to say that I don't know who my favorite artist is? I am so uncultured. lol

2DP, the vegas post is below granted it's not super exciting...skip ahead! I never made it to the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam.....I must have been preoccupied!

JLee, It's rare that I find an artist in which I enjoy most of their pieces...that first guy I love his work.

Wiwille, what is it called??

LLCJ, it's amazing however he had this really great one of Venice that I absolutely loved.

Hey I've just returned from Venice! I'd love to see that painting.

Back in the day, my degree was in art, and I'm a qualified art teacher, so I do have a real interest in good work. :)
