I did treat myself to a Pumpkin Spice Latte mid afternoon, non fat to make it a little less of an indulgence. I had to laugh as the barista asked the cashier if I wanted whipped cream, she answered "no" for me then turned to me and said "I always assume that someone who orders a non fat drink doesn't want whipped cream." I told her she was correct though I'd imagine there are some oddballs out there that would want the topping. I guess I shouldn't say that as I'm sure some people figure they can save calories on the milk and enjoy the whipped cream or whatever as every bit counts.
I really liked the quote on my cup:
"People need to see that, far from being an obstacle, the world's diversity of languages, religions and traditions is a great treasure affording us precious opportunities to recognize ourselves in others."

I did manage to get quite a bit of reading done on Friday evening which I really enjoyed. I rarely take the time to sit down and read as there are far too many technological distractions for me....computer, tv, phone....to name a few. I'm going to try and read a bit each evening from now on as I certainly don't make enough time for it and yet I find reading quite relaxing.

Actually I was thinking of trying to meditate again as well to clear my head and help with relaxation. I tried many moons ago and had a hell of a time trying to shut off the noise in my brain.....it was next to impossible for me to concentrate. There is actually a Buddhist Temple near my place that has a meditation program however you must make a commitment to attend 5 days a week for many months which I am unable to do. I may look further into the program to see if there is any leniency as far as attendance is concerned though I do not believe there will be any.
Does anyone out there have any tips on how to keep a focussed mind while trying to meditate? I know a few people that I can go to for advice but I was also thinking of borrowing some CD's or books from the library on the topic.

I would read books on meditation if I were you. The temple commitment is a bit much. I think it comes with practice and patience. You'll get there.
It has been rainy/gloomy here and I've felt like that too. I also tried a pumpkin spice latte on Friday! lol We're twins ;)
As far as meditation, I probably don't do it "correctly" but my form of meditation is a hot bath. I put bath salts and make the water really hot, then just soak for long time, letting my mind drift. It seems to help my mind relax.
I like those kind of days for reading and drinking coffee - perfect for that. And that was a good quote on the cup. I like the Pumpkin Spice about once per season as it borders on being too sweet for me.
Finally, I think Yoga works better for me than meditation as it achieves the same goals and gets you better flexibility as you can focus on getting yourself in the positions, which helps clear your mind too.
I only meditate after I excersize, but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right, or if there's even a right way.
Yrautca, I agree that I should get some books on the topic, they will set me on the right path.
Jlee, we are twins :)
The bath sounds like a good start. Might be a good place to read up on meditation...where I can relax and let my mind wander.
2DP, I'm willing to give yoga a try again however I have taken classes in the past and was not fond of them. I do think it had something to do with the teacher though as it was a rec group and not challenging at all.
Wiwille, I've actually started hitting the sauna after working out and find it extremely relaxing though I usually bring my headphones. I should leave them in the locker for sauna time.
