-Groucho Marx-
I've been in a bit of a funk this past week. My 29th Birthday is fast approaching which I am certainly less than thrilled about, however i'm not sure that's the problem. It's more of an uncertainty with my future that is gnawing at my soul.
My usual demeanor and the way i present myself is staggering at best. I hadn't noticed it myself until the woman who works in the cafeteria across the street mentioned it to me. It was a place I had not even been to in well over a month. On this particular day i wandered over for some breakfast, placed my order and she stared at me "What's wrong Hun?" "Nothing" I replied "Why?" She commented that i was not my usual chipper self and continued to stare at me with concern in her eyes. I shrugged it off to the early hour, smiled and wished her a good day. Crap, even virtual strangers are noticing. So I decided to write down some of the things that I enjoy, if nothing else, they will put a smile on my face.
*I am truly captivated by long summer days. I adore the feel of the bright warm sun shining down upon me, the smell of fresh cut grass and blooming flowers. My Aunt loved to garden and when such days appear, I am thankful to be alive and a witness to such beauty, one she can no longer see and I appreciate my life.
*Underwater is where i feel most at ease and free. The silence is almost deafening. A certain peacefulness envelops me and i haven't a care in the world.
*I love to sit in my backyard with a cup of tea, great book in my hand and watch the sun set. There is nothing more delightful.
*I live for warm summer nights, the soft grass on my back, gazing up at the stars as the crickets sing. The realization that the world is so much bigger than each and every one of us. We seem so small and inconsequential in these moments.Life can be overwhelming and painful at times, but it's these simple moments that bring a smile to my face and I appreciate one more day. Groucho had a point...tomorrow has not yet arrived, I might as well enjoy today.

If that was my backyard, I'd spend all Summer there.
Here's a lame quote but I think it fits "Don't worry, be happy." Bobby McFerrin.
Miss Ash, I know its because you are missing me so much since I am in NY ;)
seriously though, I was going to say come on, cheer up. But you are ALWAYS in such high spirits that I guess its ok to feel the blues once in a while.
Hope you feel better soon!
Are you having PMS? lol I know when I am, life sucks in general. For what it's worth, I would give a lot of money to be 29 right now!! Hope posting these things helped. I love the underwater pic..so cool.
((HUGS!!))
WIGSF, i would too and unfortunately mine does not look quite like that one haha.
Yrautca, thanks!! I vaguely remember a quote from a comedian saying something like a plumber does not always go out with his tools, why must i always be funny and happy when i go out? So true...
Jlee, man oh man leave it up to a woman to figure it out LOL i'm totally PMSing!! It always seems to put me in a blah mood as well.
If there were only more simpler things to make us smile.
I have always loved that quote by Groucho Marx. It is so true. I think we can change our mood so much just by changing our outlook or attitude towards something. But, you know, even the best of us get the blues sometimes. And, you know, that's not such a bad thing. Sometimes it's healthy to be in touch with our sadder emotions.
Don't forget good sex.
I love Groucho! Such a wise man.
Love all of the things that you enjoy. Look forward to them and 29 is nothing champ.
Scott
Totally agree with the underwater item you mentioned, and I think making a list of all the good stuff is an excellent idea when you get blue. And impending birthdays have a way of casting a shadow, so get out there & enjoy what you do like.
You can spend the whole summer at my place laying in the hammock with a drink and a book. We'll go kayaking, and post more pictures...LOL!!!
Angel Jr, i agree.
SS, it's true, we can't be "on" all the time.
