Bars....Pubs??

Well i'm definately feeling much better than the last time I posted which is good news :)

The conference was alright, there was one interesting speaker but the rest I could have done without. I enjoyed my evening out with a few friends and a friend of theirs who decided to pay for everything (He wasn't some creepy guy, he was attending the conference as well). As much of a feminist as I am, it was nice to be treated to a night on the town. "Leave your purses at the hotel" hmmmm Okay!!

It did open my eyes a little bit to the fact that I am getting older every second and perhaps those types of bars are not the place for me. Everyone seemed to be of age or using fake ID.

(I snagged this photo off the net but you get the idea)

It's weird though, for instance 7 months ago I went to a place and had a fantastic time. I went to the same place a few weekends ago and everyone seemed to be having their 19th birthday, we left after a few drinks. I'm not even talking about those raging dance clubs or anything like that, just regular bars. Where do the old people go???

Apparently I need to find a nice pub to chill out at every once in a while. Screaming girls and waiting in line 30 minutes for a toilet (because they have all overflowed) no longer seems to appeal to me.

Find a tavern or a suburban bar. Those are the places old people hang out at.

When you find out where the old people go, will you let me know? lol

older people becoming deathly boring because their children take over their entire lives and turn them into suburban zombies. they wear track pants to the supermarket and have lost the will to live. (they live vicariously through their children).

I'm glad the conference went better than expected, and it's a hard time when you find yourself having to change clubs once you decide you no longer feel like dealing with that kind of hassle.

Luckily, I'm sure there is another round of cool places as in Austin, you shift from 6th street to 4th street once you undergo that shift and it's great.

Yrautca I will try to find one.

JLee, haha sure!!

TT, oh god i loathe those people. NO BABIES!!!!

PX, awwwwww such a sweet thing to say, that made my day!!

Wiwille, umm perhaps you can take some pointers from PX.

2DP, perhaps I need to move to Austin. The only bar around here for older people is awful and we've dubbed it the Wrinkle Ranch.

I do prefer a pub to a "club" any day. We have a chain down here called "The Ale House" that is the perfect mix of pub, sports bar and social scene - with a good age mix. It's a perfect place for all the "oldies" like us to go ;)

When I was in Michigan for my sister's wedding we went to a sports bar (lovely), an Irish pub (great) and a dance club where we both got grabbed and grinded into on the dance floor and ended up fleeing hand-in-hand in tears (of laughter at the absurdity, not fear - thank goodness) when two drunken men came to fists over which one got to dance with me (I said neither, thank you very much!) - but on my swift way out I accidentally stepped on some girl's toes and she threatened to "kick my bitch ass." One guy at the club said to me "I'm REALLY old, like 26, is that a problem for you?" I said "I'm 30" and he swiftly danced away. At that moment I decided that I am far past my prime for any clublike activities.

Bring on the pubs!

I hear you! I went to see a band last night and I couldn't get over the attitude of all the little scenesters there. They annoyed me.

I am coming to Toronto on an Office Furniture tour. YAY! Free trip.

Basically, they're all at home watching TV. :P

There are always tons of places in Toronto that cater to the older crowd, some cities don't have that and there is a lot of mixing!

I do enjoy looking at a slutty 21 year old as much as the next guy.

I love it when you call yourself a feminist. Come back to London and I'll find you some filthy trouble to get into.
