I can't even believe I'm going to say this but I watched the Olympics for quite a while this evening and actually liked them. I watched some bobsledding, skiing and skating. My friend and I were watching the blurbs about the Olympians and I said "you know I never watch the games but now I'm dying to see these two competitors skate". There seemed to be a lot of hype around a Korean skater and a girl from Japan and he wanted to see them too! Hilarious, two Olympic haters dying to see the outcome! We actually sat around waiting for them to skate.
Then there was Joannie Rochette, when she finished, tears were streaming down my face as my heart went out to her. Such courage to go out there days after her mother had passed away, what a moment! I wanted to reach through my TV and hug her.
Sigh I think I'm hooked..........dammit!

Yessss......you've become one of us!
I think that's just it about the Olympics - it's so emotional! And it's extra emotional because it's in our country and for me it's extra extra emotional because it's in my city.
I was thinking today that I have GOT to write a funny post about something else really soon.....maybe in six more days.
Did you watch the Hockey game?? Tomorrow - Canada vs Russia - big game.
If you're hooked, you should watch how the Americans have been covering the Olympics. Yesterday, a couple of sports commentators took our "Own the Podium" ridiculous idea to task. And rightly so.
That skating event was emotional. What courage she had performing on a world stage after a family tragedy.
I have to admit, despite my not giving "two shits" I kind of want to watch some of the figure skating from the clips I've seen!
I usually avoid the ice skating but luckily caught it last night. The gold and silver performances were great but Joannie just took the breath away. I got a bit emotional watching her. Such a sad yet inspiring story.
Welcome to the club! We've been waiting for you. :) Canada vs. Russia tonight! Women's free skate on Thursday. Be there.
They always hook you with those stories.
